a good lecture, for secondary school children.
for the hard-earning and responsible members of the ummah, a more mature lecture (concentrating on concepts of present day issues) would have been more helpful.
I congratulate you, Abu ‘Aaliyah on bringing the focus of all our worldly efforts back to the ultimate reality that is – ‘This day every soul shall be rewarded for what it has earned; no injustice (shall be done) this day; surely Allah is quick in reckoning’ (40:17).
Engrossed in the material world, we swerve away from the sense of accountability to our Creator on the day of judgement. The injustices and untrustworthiness then creep in to our daily dealing with fellow men for a paltry gain; some time consciously other times unconsciously.
We tend to find a quick fix for our problems in materail sense, which in reality are signs of Allaah’s displeasure with us. I don’t mean that we should not try and get the practical solution for the current economical turmoil – which I am pretty sure that scholars and experts in the field are involved in but this should not be the focal point of all our discourses.
